MENTAL HEALTH KIT – ORBIT MAZE BALL
I have now put together a “soothe kit” for my first aid kit that I keep in my rucksack when leading walks. After an experience last year when a customer/walker was hiking with us and had a panic attack. At the time I feel very unprepared for such instances. I engaged in a mental health awareness course and now have the tools (mentally and physically) to deal with these situations to ensure the safety of everyone.
One item in my soothe kit is a distraction tool. Puzzles exercise the left and right sides of the brain simultaneously, they are a mental workout that improves problem-solving skills and attention span, doing puzzles reinforces connections between brain cells, and improves mental speed. The brain struggles to cope with more than one task at a time, so this a great distraction tool.
