The Peak Pilgrimage

Hikes – The Peak Pilgrimage

The Peak District is just waiting to be explored

I first walked the Peak Pilgrimage in 2017 and was mesmerised by the beauty of the area.

The Peak Pilgrimage is a long distance walk, between Ilam and Eyam, designed to be enjoyed by people of all abilities.   It was established as a pilgrimage trail set up to mark the 350th anniversary of the plague linking two villages afflicted by the plaque.  There are higher mountains, steeper tracks and greater walking challenges in other parts of Britain, but nowhere is the walking more lovely, relaxing, accessible and soul-restorative than in the Peak District National Park.

This is a journey for anyone who likes walking, and it can simply be enjoyed at that level. But it has an added twist – this is also a pilgrimage walk designed as a spiritual experience. This is neither dreary nor frightening because pilgrimages are meant to be fun! (if you want to delve into more information then please visit the Peak Pilgrimage website)
