The Camino is more than the seeing of sights. it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living – Mary Ritter Beard

Let me introduce today’s pilgrim.

Anita is a teacher from California who has a real zest for travel. Anita walked the French route in 2018 with her friend Denise and I am looking forward to finding out what it is like spending time with a close friend 24/7.

  • Anita talked about the reasons why she walked the Camino and the circumstances to which she felt called to walk this trail.
  • Find out how Anita coped without a sleeping bag or a sleep sheet!  There were a few occasions when she was a bit chilly at night!
  • Anita talks about upgrading to hotels and that they only stayed in 5 hostels along the route.  Saying that, if she returned to walk again then she would opt for a hostel only accommodation choice for the experience.
  • The weight of her pack was around 7kg
  • Find out why Anita’s favourite part of the Camino was the Meseta.
  • Anita gives lots of advice about training and blister treatment.
  • What about the food? What did you think to the pilgrim meals?
  • Lets be honest, did you ever use the luggage forward service?
  • Do you have any advice for a newbie or perhaps someone that is considering walking the Camino but has not quite taken the plunge yet?
  • How did you feel when you got to Santiago?  Anita also talks about her experience in Finisterre and Muxia. (Road trip)
  • People often say that the true Camino starts when you get home. How did you feel and what changed when you got back to real life?
