First Aid for our Furry Friends (dog first aid)

Louise from Momentum Clinical Canine Massage talks about the importance of First Aid for Dogs.
Message from Lou: Hi all, it was lovely to see both familiar and new faces – human & canine – on the Rothersthorpe walk this week. LJĀ  (my Springer Spaniel) and I had a great time – thank you everyone for making us feel so welcome. A few interesting dog discussion points came up but the main topic today was first aid for our dogs.

First Aid for Dogs

I have attended a canine first aid course for the last five years and I wholeheartedly recommend every dog guardian to attend one as it’s invaluable to everyone not just to us dog professionals.Ā  We recommend a company called Dog First Aid Training Ltd and I am attending an in-person session on 26th March in Deanshanger – run by Bridget (who I’ve known for many years and who is incredible). There are other venues available and cost just under Ā£60. Dog First Aid provide online and classroom-based courses teaching canine first aid. The course has been developed with vets and is ideal for anyone who owns or works with dogs.
The courses cover things like seizures, bleeding, shock, RTA’s, heat stroke, burns/scalds & legal compliance to name a few.
You can purchase First Aid kits and extra items at these sessions – I’ve got a small one that attaches to my belt/lead and a larger one for my car.Ā  Or alternatively, check this one out on Amazon.
I have a Springer Spaniel – she is quite busy on a walk and injures herself occasionally whilst out and about – so they really come in handy.
