Each week I put together a video of new items that have arrived in the post that feeds my backpacking and hiking habits! My Amazon addiction has sparked some strange purchases. Most items are rather cool and I will get a lot of use out of them, however, this week’s video showcases two recent purchases that were not really fit for purpose.
Basecamp Shoes from Naturehike
I purchased these Naturehike Outdoor Duck Down Camp Shoes because they looked ideal for comfy camp shoes. They were portable, lightweight, waterproof and windproof, with a non-slip sole. But in reality, they would be great as slippers to wear at camp, but not really fit for the purpose that I had in mind. They are water-resistant (and not very water-resistant – I can imagine that they would soak through even with the morning dew). And they come up very small, so they wouldn’t even fit on my feet! So, yep, these were not the best and I am back to square one looking for the perfect camp shoe. I currently have the Mountain Warehouse shoes which are great, but just not waterproof. (Check them out here).
Ultrapod Pro – Mini Tripod
There are other YouTube videos that mention this product and rave about it, but as you can see in my video, this was just not for me. Sometimes, what you already have is perfect and there is no need to upgrade! Ironically, I searched on Amazon and the new version is now not available on Amazon – I wonder why?
