OS MAPS APP

I’ve found that AllTrails isn’t always the best app if you want more detail (especially if you are in the UK).  If you are accustomed to using a paper OS Map then Alltrails may not give you all the information that you need.  WIth this in mind, it is extremely handy to have the OS Maps app at your fingertips.

OS Maps are unlike any map and they are the most detailed maps in the world.  Sometimes, the volume of detail and information can be overwhelming, which is why I prefer to teach people to navigate using Alltrails. OS Maps has everything possible thing you could want to know from footbridges to pubs, natural springs and even where to find a craf shop!

The app contains all of the UK and you can zoom in and out and use GPS to see exactly where you are in relation to the map – taking away some of the hard work of map reading!  I love that you can tell which side of a hedge you are on, yes, it goes into that much detail.

It also has some cool features like a peak finder built into it where you can see the names of the hills and mountains you’re seeing. This makes it one of my picks for the best hiking map app.
