Cambridge Diddy Doors

Fancy a Trip to Cambridge to Find Some Diddy Doors?

Adventure Geek is not your traditional walking club, we like to do things a little bit differently.  It may be hunting for noses and ears in London, visiting a bone crypt or perhaps you fancy looking for weird and unusual things in Cambridge?  Life is an adventure and we are here to help you have mini-adventures where you experience something a bit different.

Click on the tabs below the photo's below to find out more.

DURATION OF EVENT

This is a one-day event.

We will meet outside The Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs in Cambridge, which is where our walk begins and should be finished in time for lunch.

10am – The hunt for eight tiny doors which are no bigger than 6 inches, along with numerous other exciting and unusual things to see in Cambridge will begin.  To give you a taste, you will be witnessing the graveyard which has the highest IQ in Britain, a bridge that has been constructed using gravity rather than nuts and bolts and a very weird clock!

DETAILS

When you meet up with the Adventure Geek Team at the church you will be handed a map with the locations and details of all the doors and unusual attractions that you will be looking for.

You will then have a choice to either have your own adventure, OR you can join Julia and Rachel for a guided walk.  If you decide to walk with the AG team, then we will only guide you to the actual street.  It will be your responsibility to hunt for the doors and the other quirky surprises yourself (which is the fun part).

  • There will be a private WhatsApp Group where you can post your photos.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL?

This walk is not physically challenging, it is more of a fun walk with lots of sight seeing.  You will spend time in Central Cambridge and we will point out all sorts of interesting things for you to see etc.  Your map will not only give you information on the doors, but we have lots of other “quirky” things for you to discover on this trail.  All will be revealed!

How far will you be walking?
If you are following the guided map, then you can expect to walk around 4 miles during the course of the day.

HISTORY OF THE DINKY DOORS

Created by Dinky Doors, the plan is to fill the world with mood-lifting and surprising delights. Just out of plain sight, but there to be unexpectedly spotted, nonetheless. And when you do spot them, it's enough to inject a bit of joy into your day. A moment of joy, that lifts your spirit and prepares you for the day's next challenge.

But why Dinky Doors? Well, we think curious little doors add a bit of unexpected wonder and mystery to the everyday. They're intriguing, cute, and spark the imagination, all with an extra dollop of good humour too.

Julia: I absolutely love this concept and I can't wait to help spread the world about this slice of magic in Cambridge.
