June 19, 2021 @ 9:45 am - 3:00 pm BST

A training walk for those who are completing an AG Adventure Walk in 2021.

Note, please arrive by 9.45 am we will set off at 10 am sharp.

For exact location of the car park please click here (then open in Google Maps). (What3Words)

This is the fifth walk in a series of training hikes organised for those attending an Adventure Walk during 2021. (Snowdon, The West Highland Way, Hadrian's Wall and any of the Camino's). This is part of a multi-day hike. If you are walking the Camino, WHW or Hadrian's Wall, then walking two days on the trot is excellent training for your upcoming event – so please try and book on both days.

We have limited places for this particular trail, so please only book if you are 100% sure you can attend.

The walk: This walk in the Malvern Hills area of outstanding natural beauty offers sweeping views of the surrounding areas and is well marked. This trail covers Worcestershire Beacon – the highest point of the Malvern Hills. The Worcestershire Beacon has historically been used as a location for signalling beacons. In 1588 it formed part of a chain of warning fires which were lit when the Spanish Armada attempted to invade England. On the summit is a viewfinder identifying the hills to be seen on a clear day.

This is a good walk with some quite strenuous inclines. The outward hike is generally over the top of four peaks then the return is around the edge through wooded areas. Breathtaking, stunning views.

If you are an Adventure Geek Walking Club Member (monthly or annual) then these training walks are included in your membership. Please message me for your discount code.

MEETING PLACE:  Meet in the car park at 9.45am, ready to leave at 10am.

ABOUT THE WALK – grade: Challenging Walk

  • Good walking shoes / boots (and other clothes of course!).
  • A drink. (min of 1 litre)
  • Hand sanitizer  / Face mask
  • A packed lunch (although there are options to purchase lunch).
  • Walking poles (not essential).
  • If you aleady have your backpack for your adventure then please bring this with you.

  • We will adhere to a 2m rule where possible, however, a 1m social distancing will be required during the walk at all times.
  • At the beginning of the walk, we will insist that everyone uses hand sanitizer as we will be touching stiles and gates etc during the walk. (Please bring your own, but your walk leader will also have a supply).
  • Your walk leader is not allowed to carry personal possessions for you.  Please bring a bag with drink/pockets to carry keys/hats/gloves etc  (think about supporting the AG brand by purchasing an AG rucksack!).
  • Until restrictions are lifted we are not allowed to assist each other over stiles, ditches etc unless we are from the same household, or in a social bubble.  With this in mind, you will need to be fit enough to cope with stiles etc independently.
  • If you wish to bring and PPE, masks etc, please do.  All walk leaders will also carry sanitizer, protective gloves and the first aid kit.
  • If you are contacted through “Test and Trace” and have walked with an AG group within the previous 48 hours, you must notify me and I will pass on to those that have walked.
