April 22, 2019 @ 6:15 pm - 8:15 pm BST

Note, please arrive by 6.15pm, we will set off at 6.30pm sharp)

MEETING PLACE:  The Church in Ashby St Ledgers

ABOUT THE WALK – grade:  Moderate Route

Ashby St Ledgers is a gorgeous little village in the Daventry district of Northamptonshire. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 173. The Manor House is famous for being a location for the planning of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605.

You could easily pick the village up and plonk it into the middle ages and nothing would have changed except the presence of a few cars!

The walk is beautiful and we follow a lovely footpath that takes us over open fields. There are many signs for livestock in the fields, although we didn't actually pass through a field of cows or sheep this time. We did see lots of cows though (check out the video).

Hazards: * Electric fences * A few stiles * A busy A5 main road to cross * A small but busy B road to walk along * A canal where the path becomes a little thin (single line) * Muddy banks in bad weather * Crossing of locks via small bridges

  • A hi-vis vest is essential.  There is an element of road walking on this route – safety first!
  • Good trainers or walking shoes (and other clothes of course!).
  • A drink and snacks.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No.  Just bring yourself and then tell the organisers your name when you arrive.  We will then check you in.
